Why STRETCHIT Exists: The Story, Philosophy, and Vision Behind the App

Most stretching apps promise the same thing: faster results, deeper stretches, bigger flexibility gains.
But STRETCHIT didn’t start with a promise. It started with a problem.
Our founder and CEO, Natasha Nikolaeva, has spent years working with movement and flexibility, observing how different bodies respond to stretching over time. Through this experience, she began to notice recurring patterns. Many people were eager to improve their flexibility but lacked clear guidance on how to do it safely and effectively.
She saw people pushing into stretches without fully understanding what they were feeling, while others avoided stretching altogether because it felt confusing or intimidating. Many relied on random routines without structure or progression, which often led to frustration rather than results.
Over time, stretching became something people either rushed through, avoided, or pushed to extremes. Quick online videos, disconnected exercises, and advanced poses performed without context became the norm.
Natasha didn’t come from a fitness or wellness background. Before founding STRETCHIT, she spent ten years working as a corporate M&A attorney in big law. In her mid-twenties, despite being young, she began experiencing lower back pain. At the time, she brushed it off as something that simply comes with age.
But that moment stayed with her.
Sitting for long hours, working under constant pressure, and spending most of the day at a desk slowly took a toll on her body. She began exploring stretching not as a performance goal, but as a way to feel better and function normally day to day.
As she went deeper into her own practice, she realized how little guidance existed. Most stretching content felt either random, overly intense, or disconnected from real life. There was no structure, no progression, and no clear way to understand what the body actually needed.
That’s when the idea behind STRETCHIT began to take shape. Not as a product for everyone else, but as something she needed herself.
The problem with “just stretching”
One of the biggest gaps Natasha noticed was how stretching was presented in the fitness world. It was often treated as:
- An afterthought at the end of a workout
- A shortcut to impressive poses
- Something you either “had” or didn’t, based on genetics
What was missing was education.
Most people were never taught how flexibility actually works, how joints respond to load over time, or how to tell the difference between productive sensation and something that should not be pushed.
As Natasha explains, flexibility without control, awareness, and progression is not sustainable. It might look impressive short-term, but it often leads to frustration, plateaus, or even injury.
STRETCHIT was built to slow that process down and make it smarter.

A different approach to flexibility
From the very beginning, STRETCHIT was designed around one core belief: flexibility should support your life, not fight against it.
That’s why the app focuses on:
- Sustainable flexibility, not forcing range
- Long-term joint health, not temporary depth
- Intelligent movement, not random routines
- Guidance and structure, not guesswork
Instead of throwing users into advanced stretches, STRETCHIT emphasizes progressions. Instead of chasing intensity, it prioritizes consistency. Instead of isolating flexibility from strength, it teaches the body to control new ranges.
This approach reflects Natasha’s vision clearly: flexibility is not about how far you can stretch once, but how well you can move every day.
Who STRETCHIT is really for
Another key idea is accessibility. STRETCHIT was not created only for dancers, gymnasts, or athletes. It was also created for people who:
- Sit a lot
- Deal with stress
- Have trouble relaxing and sleeping
- Feel stiff, tight, or disconnected from their bodies
- Want to move better but don’t know where to start
- Have tried stretching before and felt confused or discouraged
For many people, daily tension and busy schedules make it hard to fully relax or switch off, especially in the evening. Stretching can help the body slow down, release tension, and create better conditions for rest. That’s why STRETCHIT includes sessions designed to help you unwind at the end of the day.
The flexibility world can feel intimidating. STRETCHIT aims to remove that barrier by offering clear guidance, expert-led classes, and a sense of progression that makes sense.
You don’t need to figure out what to do next. The structure is already there.

A long-term vision, not a quick win
STRETCHIT is not built for short-term transformation. It’s built for longevity.
The vision is to help people build a relationship with their bodies that lasts. One based on awareness, trust, and smart movement choices.
That means respecting limits. Learning when to push and when to ease off. And understanding that real flexibility is something you develop over time, not something you force in a few weeks.
This philosophy guides every decision behind the app, from class design to program structure.
